President and Medical Director - Siddharth Ashvin Shah
Siddharth Ashvin Shah, MD, MPH, Founder and Medical Director, is a board-certified preventive medicine physician with expertise in trauma recovery/stress management, group psychology, and East-West health systems. With experience in Ethiopia, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and USA, Dr. Shah teaches psychosocial resilience strategies to diverse groups who work on trauma. In addition to having several best-selling wellness albums on iTunes and Amazon, he is a speaker, educator and author on the subjects of psychosocial first aid, disaster mental health, mind-body techniques for anxiety, cross-cultural adaptation, vicarious (secondary) trauma, and staff self-care globally.
Dr. Shah received his MD from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, with additional training at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry, Topeka, Kansas. He completed residency in Preventive and Behavioral Medicine and received a Master in Public Health from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. _Deepak Shenoy, Ph.D., was formerly an associate partner at McKinsey
& Company. He has worked extensively with government agencies and
corporations on management issues, including cultural change,
organizational development, performance improvement, executive coaching,
and strategy. He focuses on public health issues, and has experience working with clients in the US, the Middle East, South America, and Asia.
Dr. Shenoy received his B.A. in Mathematics from Rutgers University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Practitioners
GIS practitioners include experienced public health scientists, psychologists, clinical social workers and physicians.
Kavita Avula
Kavita Avula, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma, suicidology, crisis and critical incident response and group/systems dynamics. For GIS, she has worked as a trainer and provides in-mission support to internationally-deployed clients.
Dr. Avula has provided clinical and organizational support in Palestine, India, Peru, Spain, Holland, and the United States. For international aid organizations, she provides psychoeducational programming that is designed to bolster resiliency and adaptation, prevent psychological deterioration, and address psychological distress including compassion fatigue and secondary traumatization. Locally, Dr. Avula has a private practice and is a consultant for The World Bank Group. She speaks Spanish fluently. Sharon Forrence
Sharon Forrence has worked for over 25 years with humanitarian relief and development, international education, refugee resettlement and social service agencies. For GIS, she works as a trainer and
curriculum design consultant. Ms. Forrence has extensive experience in training design, facilitation, and strategic planning having worked on a variety of short and long term projects with organizations such as Peace Corps, Catholic Relief Services, Save the Children, United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the US Agency for International Development. She has worked in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Ms. Forrence provides consultation for organizations setting up staff care programs, conducts stress management training for staff deploying to high threat environments and provides support to field staff in the aftermath of critical incidents. She has an MSW from Catholic University and a BA from Boston College. Seema Shah
Seema Shah, MD, MPH, assists with client assessments, content development and training. Dr. Shah has 2 years of public health experience in community-based women’s psychosocial programming and chronic disease research. Her interests include integrative medicine (nutrition, massage therapy, Ayurveda, psychotherapy), health information technology/communications, and improving primary healthcare delivery.
Dr. Shah completed her medical and public health (behavioral sciences) training at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Partners
